COMPANY PROFILE
Australian regional restaurants now have their own online support in the form of a new and exciting restaurant guide website. My Restaurant Guide (MYRG) features a clean and uncluttered design and a simple and effective search engine that makes navigating restaurant listings quick and easy.
Users can search via region, cuisine or even price range to browse through the site and select the dining destination that is perfect for their any occasion. From Personal Assistants searching for their boss’ next client lunch venue to strapping young suitors who are wooing with romance, MYRG can provide users with all the important information they need to make a decision.
MYRG has been created by Melburnian Jamie Dick, who is a former Concierge for Crown Towers, making him somewhat of an expert on restaurants and dining. The Crown Complex boasts some of Australia’s most reputed restaurants, and with guests constantly asking for advice on the best new dining experiences around, it wasn’t long before Jamie had firsthand knowledge in eateries across the city. He was also in charge of constantly updating the Concierge folders with current restaurant menus and details. It was during a long evening of phoning restaurants for faxed menu updates that the idea of posting the menus online came to him and MYRG was born.
Originally built for the use of Concierge staff across Australia, the site is now also available for public use. “We did a lot of research with the Concierge of Australia’s major hotels to ensure the system was user friendly and contained all the information they would need,” says Jamie. “The feedback was for a clean and quick site with no advertising, containing photos, current menus and maps.” To that end, MYRG is in constant contact with users to ensure the usability remains easy and smooth.
MYRG now has over 3500 restaurants listed, 400 members signed up and is receiving over 150,000 hits per month. The Membership program is free for users to join and gives them access to newsletters, online bookings and exclusive special offers as well as being in the running for regular prize draws.
Restaurants can sign up for a free listing, with photos, maps and even menus able to be posted online. This has proven a great tool for Australia’s regional restaurants, and a much more cost effective option than building their own website. MYRG uses the official tourism regions to segregate restaurants which helps travellers in choosing their dining experiences even if they aren’t familiar with the region they are visiting.
